Can I see the graph of my connections please?

Hi,

Seem to have developed a problem in the last 24hrs to which I believe I know the cause, could some kind soul post my connection graph as at one point it was up and down so fast my router didn't log every drop.

I've replaced every cable and the router before realizing the heating had been put on yesterday for the first time in ages, so I suspect that's the problem, to try and prove this I put the heating on this morning between 1100 and 1300 while I went out and router logged 17 drops between 1111 and 1230.

Currently the heating is off and last disconnect was at 1315 and was manually done using the router interface the router was reporting these figures both before and after:

  Downstream Upstream
Line Coding (Trellis) On On
SNR Margin (dB) 32.1 16.9
Attenuation (dB) 42.5 27.4
Output Power (dBm) 0.0 10.1
Attainable Rate (Kbps) 8476 1040

Rate (Kbps) 1775 531

If this is suddenly being caused by the boiler (positioning: boiler - 18ft - master phone socket - 7ft - router) any ideas how to mitigate or is it a case of trying to convince the council contractor from the lowest bidding company there is a problem?

Thanks

Steve

Re: Can I see the graph of my connections please?

Thanks for your post @steve_arnold.

Of course, please see below:

The results do clearly show the drops at the time your boiler was on this afternoon.

Do the other drops tally with this also?

Is the heating controlled by a remote system, for example Hive?

Re: Can I see the graph of my connections please?

Hi Owen,

Drops on 30th and 1st correspond to the boiler but the 24th and 25th don't - although they do seem rather regular on the graph. Nothing as posh as Hive installed - there is a thermostat that transmits to the boiler halfway between the boiler and the master socket.

Re: Can I see the graph of my connections please?

Hi @steve_arnold, thanks for getting back to us.

I think the best place to start would be connecting your router to an alternative mains and also, connecting into the test socket as shown here

Let us know how this goes.

Re: Can I see the graph of my connections please?

Hi Lauren,

As currently the heating hasn't caused any disconnections today I'll monitor it for a few days.

I'm wondering if it's because the heating hadn't been used for a while caused a temporary problem, If I get more drops I'll carry out the test socket procedure otherwise I'll request a profile reset on Monday.
