CLOSED / ANSWERED What is my Wireless Router type G or N

Hello,
I am looking to purchase a Wireless Network Adapter for my desktop and I would like to confirm whether my router at home is a G or an N.
It is a 'technicolor' white colour TG582n
Thank You Undecided

Hi there,
That's a wireless N router, with speeds up to 150Mb/s. Hope that helps.

Re: What is my Wireless Router type G or N

I always get a bit confused by wireless-n because it seems to incorporate a wide range of possibilities.  It can work at 2.4GHz (as per wireless g) but also 5 GHz.  This means a router can run two wireless networks simultaneously or, possibly, increase the throughput by using a channel at each frequency simultaneously.
I think the TG582n only operates at 2.4GHz which means it can only go up to 150Mb/s wireless.  So it's wireless n basic, if you like, and any cheap wireless n adaptor should be suitable.

Up to 130Mb/s actually.
And no, not any really cheap single antenna N150 adapter would be suitable, because that would only do 65Mb/s on a single width 20MHz channel. A N300 or better adapter would be more appropriate.
