Broadband very slow and constantly dropping out

For the last month or so my broadband/wifi has been very slow and frequency drops out (several times an hour). I've had the same router for several years, could it be on its last legs?

I do have a spare router because one got lost in the post when I first signed up then appeared a month later; could I simply swap to the new router? I've tried plugging it in instead, but it's not happy.

Any advice very welcome, thanks!

My broadband speed has slowly dropped from 13GB to 7GB over the past year; maybe your slow speed is due to the installation of " superfast " fibre ??  My speed drop ties in the the installation for fibre; the bottom end of my street has fibre and my end doesn't !  They stole my 6GB to add to the " fibre "
