Re: Broadband slowed to a crawl

No rate limitations other than what's already on the Portal.
We don't specifically rate limit Broadband Plus web traffic.

There is definitely something severely limiting my download speed during the early evening and it seems to me that the problem must either be due to BT or Plusnet.
James - if you are still reading this thread, is there anything that Plusnet can do to investigate this further?
I will be in hospital for some tests on myself for the next three days, so I will not be able to do any more speed tests until the weekend.

We're looking into this further today to see what we can do to address this. Sorry about the problems.

Re: Broadband slowed to a crawl

Glad to know I'm not alone at last.  Smiley
I thought there must be something wrong 'up-the-line' rather than at my end, because of the reasonable speeds I have been getting off peak.

Re: Broadband slowed to a crawl

Things are steadily improving.
11:45 This morning 8 December 2008
DSL Connection rate 7488 Kbps downstream  448 Kbps upstream
IP profile for your line is 6500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was 4691 Kbps.
Throuput seems a little low on this test - My Broadband speed tester is regularly reporting speeds around 5200kbps

Re: Broadband slowed to a crawl

Still on a long temporary extension lead - but if it works don't fix it.
Today's test  13 Jan 2009 at 16:15
Your DSL connection rate 7904 kbps (downstream) 448 kbps (upstream)
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5275 kbps Smiley
The My Broadband speed tester showed download of 6147 kbps
Speedtest.net speed tester showed download of 6322 kbps Cheesy
I think these are some of the fastest download speeds I have ever achieved.
I have also recently been getting much faster uploads to my webspace, with none of the long pauses and dropped files I used to experience.

Re: Broadband slowed to a crawl

Another improvement
Tonight's test at peak time 19 Feb 2009 at 18:04
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
    Your DSL connection rate: 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM),  448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5790 kbps
Speedtest.net gives a download test result of 6445 Kbps - not bad for peak evening time
It can't get much better than this on an 'up to' 8Mb connection  Cheesy
