Look forward to seeing Gandalf's thoughts. I don't profess to understand all of the terminology. As previously expressed just confused by difference in TPL &PN thoughts re the SNR margin - at present line is far more stable than ever been -

Re: Broadband Intermittent sometimes every 10secs

@niallcampbell @RealAleMadrid Gandalf is now on an extended holiday on the other side of the planet, so don't expect an answer anytime soon.

@niallcampbell have you had a look on the DSL Checker to see what you could get?

If the TPlink router stats are believable the OP is on extremely high SNRM values already (27db down 25dB up!)

I think a line reset would help a lot. Also is the line provisioned on ADSL_Max (G.DMT)? Is ADSL2+ not available, if it is the download speed should be over 20Mbps as it is a fairly short line (13dB Attenuation down).

Those stats are from the example in the TP-Link documentation, not the actual line in question.

Re: Broadband Intermittent sometimes every 10secs

Ah, sorry about that, thought they were the Op's stats, which we don't seem to have had any sight of. The information from TP Link has not been helpful to say the least, "please use another phone line" is a good one.Huh

Re: Broadband Intermittent sometimes every 10secs

Hi.

I had a similar problem and also use a TPLink router. The log includes a lot of routine stuff but I found it useful to set a filter. On the System Log page, click on "Log Settings", at the next page at "minimum level" select "Warning" and save. Now the logs will only include significant details ignoring the routine house keeping stuff. If broadband drop outs are occurring, there will likely be messages with "PPP" in them. At least, that is what I was seeing on my Archer VR900.

Mick.

Re: Broadband Intermittent sometimes every 10secs

Guessing here, but that looks to be a Local Area Network status, do you have something plugged into the number two wired ethernet socket? If so, move it to another socket and see if the log report moves also. I don't know the case with TPLink, but some routers drop the active status of a device quite quickly when inactive and change it again when traffic requires it. The BT Hub does this a lot and checking for connected devices has them coming and going over time.

Re: Broadband Intermittent sometimes every 10secs

It coincides with wifi dropping too - which has been happening frequently since yesterday. Nothing else plugged into Lan ports.

Just trying to understand everything - I clearly don't. I am considering using different DNS to see if issue happens on non PN dns.

Re: Broadband Intermittent sometimes every 10secs

Hi

Way back in your thread you mentioned you use "wifi extenders". What make and models and are you still using these? HOw many are there? How old are they?  If they are still connected  can you try to do without them for a few days and then report back if you still have connection issues.

@AlexD @HarryB @MatthewWheeler @adamwalker - no Plusnet touch for 2 weeks ... about the length of time Gandalf has been on leave.
