Dearest Group,
For sometime I had port 23230 open (for Azureus). Since yesterday I have discovered something external to me is blocking access to that port.
I ran some tests and discovered I can successfully open standard ports (20,21,80,443,5900 etc), but anything out of the norm is a no-go.
Raised a ticket on this one, also the PN firewall has been verified as off.
Anyone else noticed this? Is it a Conficker blocking thing?
Cheers,
Richard

I've had no problem accessing cvsup3.uk.FreeBSD.org on port 5999 today (I don't think that's a standard port).

Dunno. Sounds more like a neat way of getting round the word censor.

Good call!
I don't think it would give you trouble with outbound traffic (if I understand you correctly). It's just a case of if you open a non-standard port on your router, incoming traffic is still blocked.
Cheers,
Richard

Hi,
In answer to your Q's: No,No and No.
Just to re-iterate common ports can be opened successfully. The only issues are external to me.

Check also the safe surf and other blocking issues on the PN user site, It might be worth ENABLING then disabling the PN firewall to see if it is that throwing a huff.

Hi,
Tried that already...
A conspiracy theorist might think that http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7985339.stm has something to do with it! I hope not.
Cheers,
Richard
