Re: Billion 7800N

Dare I ask which operation system you are using that doesn't have 'telnet' built in ?

Re: Billion 7800N

I believe the 7800n supports telnet.

Oh dear, having a senior moment ?  Cool_smiley

Reply #14 shows the telnet commands, and the output from a Billion 7800.

Re: Billion 7800N

try 192.168.1.254 for your router, that's the one that works on my billion 7800n

Telnet needs to be specifically enabled on some Windows versions, see here for Windows 7 ...Windows 7 enabling telnet client

Re: Billion 7800N

If you would like to plot graphs of your 7800N's performance, you might want to look at running RouterStats-Lite on your PC.

'RouterStats-Lite' should work simply by telling it that you are using a 7800N, and providing the router's username and password.

As the name suggests, it is the 'lite' version of 'RouterStats'.

The fully featured version 'RouterStats', also available from the link above, provides more in-depth monitoring, but takes a bit of effort to configure, and makes extensive use of telnet to retrieve otherwise hidden data.

I couldn't tell you the extent of what 'RouterStats-Lite' displays for the 7800N, because I've only ever used the full 'RouterStats' with my 7800.

Re: Billion 7800N

one thing I'm trying to work out is part of the report "

Indicative Line Quality:

R "

Re: Billion 7800N

Have a read about "Indicative Line Quality" on @kitz's explanation of  'BT's DLM process'.

Unfortunately I can't see precisely what the "R" status refers to, although my guess would be that is shows "Red" which corresponds to "Poor MBTR/MTBE" i.e. the next action will be "The system will apply a further DLM step to increase stability."

Re: Billion 7800N

yes seems as if it confirms what I always knew ( but can't get anything done about it ) my line is only just usable so it will have to go on until it gives up all together Angry

Re: Billion 7800N

Do you get better results with your 7800N plugged into the BT 'TEST' socket (behind the faceplate on your MASTER phone socket) ?

Re: Billion 7800N

I have a filter face plate on the master socket which improved the sync

Re: Billion 7800N

Do you have any extension wiring connected to the back of that filtered faceplate ?

Do you know which filtered faceplate you have ?
