So, would like suggestions for a good, rock solid router which can give me good Wi-Fi coverage and the best possible internet speeds.

So, if I were to buy it, how would I set the router up to accommodate the fibre optic broadband?

It has 4 gigabit ports, 2x USB2 ports, and simultaneous dual band wifi. (N300 2x2 2.4ghz, N450 3x3 5.0ghz) Uses Atheros 600MHz AR9344 cpu. 5 internal antennas according to FCC photos. There is no openWrt or DDwrt support.
For sure, it won't be as good as the Asus routers for range/coverage, but if you want to dip your feet into 5GHz wifi, it may be worth a punt ?
I picked one up yesterday. Currently testing it in Access Point mode.

Added 6 Jul 2013: Started testing in router mode. I've disabled Fastrack QoS. To be able to manually disconnect and reconect the PPPoE sessions, I had to choose 'Manual' rather than 'Always On' when configuring the PPPoE WAN parameters.
I use Google and OpenDNS and was able to specify these DNS servers in the WAN setup, then by turning off the 'DNS Proxy', these DNS server addresses are provided to DHCP clients.
(I see Currys also selling the WD My Net N600 model without gigabit ports for £14.99 too)

Quote from: zzZzz fwiw, Currys PCworld currently offering the WD My Net N750 wireless cable/fibre router for £24.99........
Nice find that, just instructed my brother to get one (he needs dual band), I actually reserved it for him, hopefully he'll pick it up tomorrow, absolute bargain at that price for dual band concurrent.

At any given moment in the universe many things happen. Coincidence is a matter of how close these events are in space, time and relationship.

Quote when the TG582n is 'Worth £40'
40p would be a more accurate value.

My wireless speed was 43Mb and has now decreased to 27Mb on the WD router. The laptop was 6 foot from the router with no obstructions in both instances.
The fixed wire connection has improved slight from 73.25Mb to 73.52Mb.
As I was looking for a wireless speed increase I'm not amused. Might have to buy a 5GHz usb wireless adaptor as the laptop is not dual band.
