Re: Best BT Openreach ADSL faceplate?

No significant difference with the stats there, you synced 140kbps slower otherwise, the SNRM then at 6.3. The impression I'm getting is something may be causing periodic interference to your line. That said, I'm still thinking that the Filter arrangement you had when you posted stats in reply #14 could be better than the current arrangement, the only way to find out is go back to that arrangement, but leave it until daylight hours.
In the meantime, how is your ping currently? Also run the BT speedtester but don't bother with the Diagnostic this time, just run the first test. If you get a slow upload, run the tester again immediately and see if it's any different,  if not run it again immediately.
You can actually run this first test as frequently as you like. The next (Diagnostic) part is the part you have to wait 10 minutes between tests and no more than 3 per hour, but the primary benefit of that is to get the profiles which we aren't overly interested in at this time as that side of it seems OK in relation to sync.

I had checked this with website samknows and you could getting FTTC as it say it available in your area?

Re: Best BT Openreach ADSL faceplate?

Well there's a lot of building work going on as 380(!!!) more houses are gonna be built near me, plus an old mains cable is being replaced to improve the "infrastructure" but not had any disruptions on any thing else.
As for FTTC some parts of the town have it but our actual cabinet (38) isn't upgraded yet with no lead time 😞
Will try that test again shortly.

Re: Best BT Openreach ADSL faceplate?

Hmmm.....using the wireless connection to my PC and the BTW tester constantly produces very varying results.
Last test my ping was 142. Download dropped to 3.80.
Just run 60 secs after that and ping is 37. Downloads 5.82.

Arrrrrrggggghhhhh

Re: Best BT Openreach ADSL faceplate?

Tried to swap out to the old filter but the phone connection now no longer works on that.
Doh! But since reseting it the speed has remained constant as has the ping.
The SNR seems to vary between 6.0 to 6.3. Not sure why.
Looks like I'm not "commercially viable" for an FTTC upgrade according to BT Openreach. I cannot believe this considering all the properties being built but have lobbied it with my councillor now. Joy!

Re: Best BT Openreach ADSL faceplate?

Expect small variations in the SNRM, 6.0-6.3 is quite acceptable.
Whilst you are still on this old filter can you post the full stats please.
Also if you could run the BT speedtester first stage wired, 3 times in quick succession noting the results each time and post them please.

Re: Best BT Openreach ADSL faceplate?

I'm on the new filter again as couldn't leave the other one connected if our landline wouldn't work.
Will try to post stats later and connect up wired again.

Re: Best BT Openreach ADSL faceplate?

When the BT engineer replaced me with a new BT Openreach socket he said the socket is filtered inside the socket and he did not have to use the usual filter,I just wondered if this is a new idea but my speed as got much faster since the change.

Re: Best BT Openreach ADSL faceplate?

If you have a socket at the top which you plug the modem/router into directly then yes. This is the new vDSL/xDSL interstitial plate which looks like this except is has the Openreach logo on the top.
This is the old BT ADSL filtered plate.

Re: Best BT Openreach ADSL faceplate?

Well the stats look OK (considering the up time is just under 6 minutes). Please check which Firmware it is.
If DLM is happy with the line it'll lower the Target SNRM don't forget. We'll have a better idea looking at some stats tonight, well after dark.

Re: Best BT Openreach ADSL faceplate?

That doesn't seem too bad at all. It would be nice if the CRC errors were a touch lower but considering Interleaving is off it's ok. SNRM doesn't seem to have gone down too much either.
