@James: Please can you supply me with the information mentioned in Anotherone's last post (exact dates and times of analysis & whether the resync was due to the test).
@Anotherone: I spent months looking for sources of interference within my house. I could not find any. Despite the speed problems on my line I have very few resyncs and none in recent history (apart from the one that may be caused by the recent test) [I am not counting manual reboots and ones triggered by noise margin changes]. There may be too many errors according to BT to keep my target margin low, but I have no idea how many that would be.

Hi mapletree,
The test would have been run a few minutes before the ticket was updated, so about 5pm is right - and it looks like partial results from a one shot check, which may well have knocked the sync out briefly. I'm not 100% sure but it is the most likely reason, and was run at around the right time.

Thanks for the info. Is there any news on the other point (date/time of the analysis period on my ticket)?

The default period is the past 3 days, I'm fairly sure that even if we specify a different time period in the test it still checks the past 3 days anyway. We don't often change those dates so it's a fairly safe bet the analysis period was for the 3 days before and including the test date.
Sorry I missed that off,

The table that contains the analysis data also shows the date of 26th September, which is more than three days before the test. Therefore I think the analysis data must be from earlier. Doesn't anyone actually know?

It's the RRT test (Reactive Repair Tool).
It looks back 14 days.

So it would have covered the period where my target margin was changed.
Upstream margin is constant at 17dB even into the evening.

It's going from bad to worse again. A few drops and an even lower sync speed now
