Does anyone have an easy way to set up WPA, I have two laptops, one Win 98 and one XP plus an Archos 705 running Opera

Re: BT Voyager 2110 and WAP Setup

Here are the instructions for the Voyager 2091 , I think the 2100 is very similar.

Re: BT Voyager 2110 and WPA Setup

Just had a look at the BT web site and at the CD that came with the router plus the Win 98 1065 Laptop card, they all say yes we all support WPA, but why do you want to know, we have 128 bit WEP that's good enough, any comments on that please

Re: BT Voyager 2110 and WPA Setup

128-bit WEP is reasonably secure but WPA-PSK is much more so and tends to be easier to set up.  WPA has an additional advantage - for some reason WEP keys can need "refreshing" at intervals, i.e. the connection can suddenly stop working and needs the WEP key(s) re-entering (I've had this happen with a few different hardware combinations so it's not confined to any one manufacturer) whereas with WPA, once it is set up and working it tends to stay that way.

Re: BT Voyager 2110 and WPA Setup

Just taken a look and it seems fairly straightforward to me.
Advanced > Wireless > Encryption
As per the attached screengrab.

Re: BT Voyager 2110 and WPA Setup

The 2110 will be the same I would have thought. What firmware version are you using? Might be worth updating it if it isn't the latest.
I've a 2110 knocking about somewhere but it's a little late for me to start messing around with it. We have one on the test rig at work so can check tomorrow if you give this thread a nudge then.

Re: BT Voyager 2110 and WPA Setup

OK I have nearly psyched myself up, Can I do it all via wireless or should I did out my ethernet cable, I propose to do it on the XP first then the Win98, the Archos looks dead easy.
Is it also OK to  use the same code string as was used on WEP or must I dream up somethink new?

Re: BT Voyager 2110 and WPA Setup

If you are changing / setting the wireless encryption then you can't do the changes via wireless because as soon as you change it on the router you will not have any access via wireless. This kind of change is always better via a wired connection.
WPA uses an up to 64 character encryption string I think so you can use the same string as you used for WEP.

Re: BT Voyager 2110 and WPA Setup
