BT Speedtester

How much data is downloaded in order to carry out the speed test?

Re: BT Speedtester

Hi Finch,
Whilst I don't have an exact figure I can confirm that the amount of usage the BT speed tester uses when running a test in minimal in comparison to your monthly peak time download allowance.  The only way to find out for sure would be to run the BT speed tester whilst running a usage monitoring tool (something like this: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/tbbmeter.html ) with as few background processes and programs running as possible so as not to skew the result.
I would be surprised if the usage was more than a couple of megabytes.

Re: BT Speedtester

Thanks guys. I'm new to Plusnet (install yesterday) and am keeping tracks on my usage now that I can enjoy an FTTC connection. My old connection for the last 10 years was less than 1Mb, so I want to make sure I don't go overboard with my usage !!! Cheers.

Re: BT Speedtester

I believe the BT speedtester runs the download for a fixed time (about 15 seconds) so the data used will depend on the speed of the line.
