BT Speedtest and IP profile screwed

This is from my latest BT speedtest (picture included)
IP Profile for your line is - 3.67 Mbps
Using the 88.2% rule that should give a sync speed of about 4160kbps
However my line hasn't had a sync that low since the 29th April
At present it has been 4896kbps for the last 32 hours and before that 4704kbps
Just to add - Current line speed:    4.1 Mb
Also second picture of my line speed changes against time
Further information - I resynched the connection at about 09.25 on the 30th April - sync 4672kbps and then did the following speed test which matches the IP profile of 4120kbps by the 88.2% rule

Re: BT Speedtest and IP profile screwed

Hi Jim.
I've just ran a check and your current sync rate is 4160 with an IP profile of 3.67Mbps. This is with an SNR of 5dB. Did you not used to get more than that?

Re: BT Speedtest and IP profile screwed

No it isn't
Noise Margin:    4.9  dB
Connection Rate:  4896  Kbps
Line Attenuation: 50.0  dB
The last time it was 4160kbps was on the 20th January 2012 at about 23.20

Re: BT Speedtest and IP profile screwed

BT still have it wrong
Download speedachieved during the test was - 3.4 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1.2 Mbps-4 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 3.67 Mbps

Re: BT Speedtest and IP profile screwed

Just run a couple of tests and you're now showing as being in sync at 4800kb/s with a profile of 4319kb/s - I've upped your profile on our side to 4300 to match.

Re: BT Speedtest and IP profile screwed

Yup
For an unknown reason my router lost sync at 15.34 and resynched at 4,800kbps
BT speedtester now correct

IP Profile for your line is - 4.23 Mbps

I am not sure where you got the 4319kbps profile from as that was from the earlier sync rate of 4,896kbps
So something still isn't correct

Re: BT Speedtest and IP profile screwed

Never wishing to miss half a chance to post BT's Performance tester results - today, in quick succession (all in Mbps):
BT ADSL/FTTC Performance Tester - 7.68/0.9 d/u
BT Lite (beta) - 9.05/1.0 Ping 39ms
Speedtest.net - 9.04/1.02 Ping 30ms
These are significant variations between the "official" BT tester and it's on-trial sibling, and have been pretty consistent for a few weeks now. They clearly can't both be right - I hope BT manage to produce a tester we can all feel consistently confident about sooner rather than later!  Roll_eyes

Re: BT Speedtest and IP profile screwed

I never bother to use BT Speed Tester again, cos it useless and pointless. I just ran the speedtest.net and I can work out the 88.23% of the profile rate from that speed test result.

Re: BT Speedtest and IP profile screwed

If you read from the start of this thread you will see that the reason for the post was that the IP profile was all wrong

Any chance of some thoughts as to why the discrepancy

Re: BT Speedtest and IP profile screwed

I don't know why the profile was misreporting, but I do have a strong suspicion that the tests I ran on it kicked it back into life again - I ran a full KBD check which must have kicked off the resync, because it took three DSL status checks before it was able to get a reading (which then read correctly, unlike the one I ran before KBD which showed the stuck profile exactly as Jojo posted).
I'm afraid I'm just going to have to go with exchange blip I'm afraid. Glad it's sorted now though.
