Re: BT Speedtest Problem.

You're welcome, I wonder why you can't get a result with the number.

Re: BT Speedtest Problem.

Sorry to rain on the parade but although the BT Performance tester seems to be working first time for me, and "to completion" the results still seem to vary wildly compared with other testers.
Just ran Speedtest.net and got 9.30/0.98 (Mbps d/u), immediately followed by BT Performance tester (4.31/0.94) which in turn I immediately followed with MBS (9.30/1.01)
I wouldn't want this "diagnostic tool" in my toolbox at the moment!  Sad

Re: BT Speedtest Problem.

I can't run the BT SpeedTester at all - it comes up with 'The Performance Tester is currently unable to run a speed test for your broadband connection. ...'. This has been the case for the last 2 weeks or so and has the same result on Chrome, Firefox and IE9. I've tried using both my phone number and Service Id. Any ideas?

Re: BT Speedtest Problem.

I got it running last night and this morning but when it completed the download and upload tests it redirected straight to the 'third test required' screen without displaying any results, my speeds are fine but I'd like to check my profile which it doesn't give me.  I have NEVER managed to complete a third test by the way, I have followed the instructions carefully but never seem to actually establish a connection.
For some reason the BE BRAS profile checked does not work for me on my home connection, oddly though I can enter my home number from work (on BT Business broadband) and it gives the correct details so I can check my BT profile on my home line if I'm at work!
Any idea why the BE checker would say 'Real Error: BT Error or not a BT or BT Wholesale Line Rental number'?  I assume that a Plus Net phone line is a BT Wholesale Line Rental number.  Maybe the error is just indicative of corruption in the BT speedtester system/database.

Re: BT Speedtest Problem.

The tester worked OK using the phone number a few minutes ago but the recorded throughput is poor, checked the exchange and the VPs are reported as being green.

Thanks all, we'll get investigating and try and find out what's going on here. It's been raised internally and we'll keep you posted, update to follow as soon as we know more.

Re: BT Speedtest Problem.

It's just run OK for me (I'm 20CN).
I've also just run the Beta. It's come up with a latency of 79.11 which is absolute rubbish:

Edit: I've also tried pinging back to myself from the office (on a totally different network) and got similar figures.

Re: BT Speedtest Problem.

This morning, in quick succession:
Speedtest.net : 9.30/0.99
BT : 8.15/1.04
MBS : 9.30/1.01
(I regard that as a "normal" result from the BT tester, but therein lies the problem - yesterday's 4.31 Mbps download speed looked equally "normal" but was only half the correct figure.)

Re: BT Speedtest Problem.

This afternoon and in quick succession here:-
BT Speedtester 2980/379  BUT download speed = 0Mbps ! (It did stick at 96%)  Profile 2500 Mbps.
MBS                3249/450
So BT relatively still weird I guess.
