BT HOME HUB 6A just received firmware update SG4B1000E020 (17Dec 2020) now nothing works

Hi there

I have been with PN for 4-5 years, last problem was last Christmas which was sorted after a quick call. 10/10 can't complain.

For clarity I am using a BT Home Hub 6A. Thursday night I had an overnight firmware update to SG4B1000E020, thought nothing about it until yesterday evening when I realised my Sonos sound system was not working, I could not log into the house security system or the security cameras. Further investigation highlighted that no mobile phones or tablets had WiFi access. The streaming service which is hard wired via TP-Link powerline was also down.

I have done the usual, turn everything of, wait half an hour and switch back on. Hurray, everything working again.

Saturday morning, nothing working again. I have now switched to the spare PN Hub One, everything is working again but painfully slow. My normal speed of 35M download is now at 20M (at best) and the WiFi range is about 5 foot.

Not sure of the best way forward, any help really appreciated.

Cheers

@THETESTER

Have you tried a factory reset on the Hub and set everything up again from scratch? Be sure to keep the reset switch closed for about 30 seconds.

Hi Baldrick1

I have tried the factory reset using the button on the back of the HH6A Router. To be honest I sat with the button pressed in for about a minute as I  take the 30 second rule as a bare Minimum. I am more than happy to give it another go if people think it's not a waste of time.

@THETESTER

I can't answer for the rest of 'the people' but I would give it a go.
