Ha this service been withdrawn - I do not seem to be able to send mail from remote non plusnet network

The service hasn't been withdrawn and I've just successfully tested SMTP auth on your account.

Make sure you're using the default username and password for the account and aren't trying to use SSL encryption.

I wouldn't say the job is fully done as you have to use your main account username and password rather than the same username+mailbox and it's password that you use for POP3/IMAP.
Hopefully that is something they will eventually get right.

If we ever relay mail directly through the IronPorts (which was the intention some time ago) then this will become standard.

It's also worth noting that some ISPs block port 25 access on their networks other than for their own SMTP server.  If you were connected to such a network then you still wouldn't be able to send via Plusnet's authenticated server and would have to use that particular ISP's SMTP server or PN's webmail.  As far as I am aware, PN don't allow sending via alternative ports on their SMTP servers (a common way round port 25 blocks is to use port 587 instead).

We only allow sending across port 25 at the moment.
