At what point should I start asking questions...

Well I have been upgraded although to be fair I was better off before I started! my speeds before were 3.9mb down and 0.8mb up then decided that I would go for the adsl2+ seeing as my exchange is done - now I get 4.2 down (yay!) but only get 0.5mb up.
I wasn't expecting 20mb down but thought I would at least get somewhere nearer 6 or even 8 down.
I am just past my ten days
I have also attached some screen shots of my ADSL status and also my BT test results.
Do you think  that i should be asking questions about my speeds or is that what I should be expecting?
Thanks
Chris

Re: At what point should I start asking questions...

You say your upload speeds before were 0.8mb - were you on Max Premium?

Re: At what point should I start asking questions...

I will do that, although I can help feeling that there is more wrong that just that, I did have 0.8mb up before the upgrade so I would have assumed that I wouldn't have been capped.
Thanks for pointing it out though.

Re: At what point should I start asking questions...

hehe sorry only just spotted that I had two replies, I was on Broadband Premier Option 1 then I had email offering to increase my upload speed which I accepted so not sure - I have just checked and it still says I am on Broadband Premier Option 1.

Re: At what point should I start asking questions...

Ok I have been through all my closed questions and found that I did have max premium added to my account in October last year.

Re: At what point should I start asking questions...

How much are you paying per month - does it include an extra fee for the Max Premium?
If you look at one of your invoices I would expect it to include something like (with the dates reflecting your billing period):
Quote
Max Premium (PT001) charge for the period 03/03/2009 to 02/04/2009  £6.81    £1.02    £7.83

If that is the case you need to contact Plusnet to get that removed from your account as they don't have to pay extra to BT for the faster upload on 21CN. See the first few posts in http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,70935.0.html

Re: At what point should I start asking questions...

I did/do have max premium which I paid for from January through to this month, I can see that on February and March invoices.
So if I could get 0.8 up on ADSL Max should I get the same now?

Re: At what point should I start asking questions...

You should be getting better than 0.8 - and you shouldn't be paying for it.
Have you PM'd Jameseh as ASBO DOG suggested?

Re: At what point should I start asking questions...

The routerspeeds attachment to the opening post shows the connection is with G.DMT, which is ADSL. The mode setting on the router needs to be changed to ADSL2+ to pick up higher speeds. With an attenuation of 41dB you might achieve an 8000kbps sync.

Re: At what point should I start asking questions...

Would that knock back his upload to 448 given that Max Premium users get up to 832 using G.DMT?

Re: At what point should I start asking questions...

I have been searching the answer to which modulation to use, after a while I decided that it should be left on g.dmt - I could be wrong and what spraxyt says does make sense. apparently though it sorts itself out whichever you choose.
i am guessing there is more wrong here than just my upload being capped because my download is very low, once again after reading around i have found that I should be expecting speeds of between 7mb and 9mb
Anyway will PM jamesh to see if I am being capped.
Thanks everyone - I will let you know what happens.
