Asus DSL-N55u and ICMP Ping

Hi All
Im trying to get the router I have just put in working with the a Broardband quality meter that you can use in one of the forums  (When its working it gives a great view of the line and connection quality)  But for some reason its all blocked out in red which means apparently that there is a problem with the ICMP Ping not getting through and I just wondered if anyone knew where to change it in the routers GUI please? Thanks

Re: Asus DSL-N55u and ICMP Ping

Hi
Under Firewall > Respond Ping Request from WAN
I would update your router to the latest firmware which came out last week (there are a lot of security fixes).

Re: Asus DSL-N55u and ICMP Ping

Hi
I did the upgrade a couple of days ago S8o should be OK but looks like I have got some settings wrong as it keeps dropping out a couple of times a day?

Re: Asus DSL-N55u and ICMP Ping

You can double check your connection settings using the details from -
    Broadband connection settings
and
    Your Connection Details
Try connecting your modem to the Test Socket
Try following the advice in Connection Troubleshooting - standard (ADSL) broadband,
and if that fails then use the Broadband Troubleshooter to get Plusnet to check your connection.

Re: Asus DSL-N55u and ICMP Ping

Hi Purleigh
Iv looked and as well as PPP0E instead of PPPoA Its also set as LLC instead of VC-Mux.  So think I will have to have another go at setting the Asus DSL-N55u up from start Just because that before when I first set it up it did so automatically. Hence why its set to the PPPoE and LLC I think
And I run the Modem/Router from the test socket as I have always found this the best way..
But when all said and done its going to be down to my setting in the router thats the problem I think anyway.

Re: Asus DSL-N55u and ICMP Ping

When you say keeps dropping out? What do you mean? The router stops responding to WAN ICMP requests?
Do you have any devices set to DMZ?

Re: Asus DSL-N55u and ICMP Ping

You're losing connectivity.
Can you post the modem stats (snr margin/line attenuation etc.)?

Re: Asus DSL-N55u and ICMP Ping

Something isn't right there - your sync rate of 4295 is too high for the line attenuation I think.
Are you connected to the master socket?

Hi Andy
Yes direct into the test socket. Its been at between 3900 and 4460 since Chris reset my SNR a couple of months ago. Till then The fastest I had got for the last few years was around 3000,
Also according to Plusnet the disconnections that the router has shown have not actually come up as disconnections on their end well not all. There have been 12 disconnects in the last 11 days but like I said not all shown Up but the last couple has shown up those are the one in the log that have something to do with the when its on about channels being dirty . (god only knows what that is :LOL).
They also told me to change over PPPoE to PPPoA and LLC to VC-Mux in the WAN settings which I did last night .as is shown here in the log. at 22.45 on the 4th of April
