Appalling broadband speed after OpenReach visit

OpenReach were called (by PlusNet) to fix a pinched cable after some builders disturbed it during laying a dropped kerb and tarmac for a neighbour. Day 2 finally have phone and the internet back.

Testing the speed this evening to potentially work from home tomorrow I am appalled at the speed. A broadband speed test I always use reported 0.2 mbs The upload speed is quicker!

Some speed test websites wouldn't even progress. Many websites are taking the old dial up speed times to load, Not the 10+ mbs it often suggests, I guess 5mbs is as good as it really gets.

I can test again in the morning to see if it improves but this is farcical.

Any advice appreciated.

Re: Appalling broadband speed after OpenReach visit

Hi there.
From what I can see your router is in sync at 14mbps but testing your line is still showing a fault "Battery Contact" so I've rejected the clear our suppliers have sent us which means that they'll investigate further and update us within the next couple of days.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.
