have tried to test my line speed over the last 2 days using BT Speedtester and just keep getting a "Error has occurred" message.
My download line speed as indicated by router has also dropped to about half what it was.

Make sure that you have the correct version of Java for your browser. If it's a 32-bit Browser you still need the 32-bit Java even on a 64-bit OS.
If you are having problems with Java 7, see http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,105032.msg895163.html#msg895163
Edit: dvvrue95 can you keep your line problems in your i-plate thread (I've just posted there), apart from the title of this one having nothing to do with your fault, it's getting really confusing jumping from one thread to another to follow what is happening, thanks.

looks like there's a fault somewhere. Can you tell me if you're using any extension cables/sockets? Do you have a test socket you can plug into?

sorry for not responding earlier. I have an outstanding fault report which involves possible intermittent line fault (line cracking) which I am trying to bottom out.
So far have changed ADSL filters, moved to test socket and am awaiting delivery of another router. Until router has been changed not willing to call BT out (I have telephone line and BB from PN).
I have restored line to normal i.e. no longer using test socket and although speed has dropped the line has become stable, whereas before changing anything (except router) line was continually dropping BB.
New router now expected by weekend but then I am on holiday for a week so not able to do anything else until 12/06. I will leave existing router (BT Voyager 2110) connected and powered on during my absence.

Eventually they found a line fault and fixed it, that was on Friday 15/06. I spoke to Plusnet support about the fact that my BT profile had dropped to 0.21M even though the Plusnet profile was still showing 1.8M, they said that would be due to the line fault but it would take 3 days for the BT exchange equipment to respond to the "fixed line" conditions.
Well is over 3 days now and I'm still at 0.21M my router stats indicate no line drops during the past 3+ days (see below) can someone at Plusnet rub two stones together or whatever else you need to do to improve my broadband speed ................. please
Ian

If that doesn't resolve it, your target noise margin may have risen to 12 or 15dB and whoever you spoke to, did not know what they were talking about, they should have checked your Target noise margin. Either that or you still have noise on the line. If the line is definitely OK, you may need a Line/SNR reset, otherwise you will wait a month of Sundays for the Target SNRM to come down.
Edit: I should have phrased that the otherway about so I've re-edited

thanks for response. This is the result of doing disconnection/wait/reconnection. Line appears to be fine (no noise) since BT fixed line fault.
So I guess I need someone at Plusnet to do that Line / SNR reset. Looks like another 3 days gone bye without any decent broadband service.

thanks for that update line reset appears to have kicked in around 2pm today current router stats looking much better now (see below), also BT IP profile know 1.2M. Lets hope things stabilize.
Can you get in touch with your accounts people to sort out a rebate for this issue which has been ongoing since early in May 2012?
cheers, Ian
