HI dennisb66,
Can you confirm whether you're in the test socket and have tried changing the microfilter. Once you have I'll do some checks for you.

Hi dennisb66,
Sync speed is a lot better with that configuration. If it stays like that the profile will soon lift.

Yes I noticed that my connection rate had risen,do you think that all this time it was the filter causing the problem.

If that's the only thing that has changed then it may well have been.

You'd think that a simple electronic thing like a filter would last forever, but failing ones do seem to cause a fair number of problems.

I think the number of problems caused by failing filters is minuscule by comparison to the number of problems caused by people forgetting to fit filters on all their telephones or on the phone line that goes to their sky box, or plugging the fax machine into the ADSL side of the filter or because they have had lots of extension sockets fitted, all with the bell wire connected. I have seen all these whilst out and about on my travels fixing computers.
Of course, if dennisb66's original results were taken plugged into the test socket and only the filter has changed then it must be the filter.
