ADSL to ADSL2+

I have been upgraded to ADSL2 on the 2nd January and it was all hunky dory until the recent routing problems on the network. I had changed router to a WAG320N as my old WAG200N s graphic interface was locking up. I think smaller people will have rebooted the router several times the other day hoping to resolve the lack of service when plusnet had routing issues.
I am within 200m of the exchange.

Re: ADSL to ADSL2+

You need to do one resync and check the sync speed and noise margin immediately after. If it is still high noise margin and low sync speed it probably means your connection has been banded to limit the sync speed because of all the disconnections. Plusnet will want to see around 24 hours of continuous connection when you can ask them to do a SNR Reset which should put things back to normal (a reset on an unstable line is counter-productive which is why they need to see the period of stability).

As Jelv says, this figure indicates that your line has been banded.  As he also says, hang fire for 24 hours then request an SNR reset Smiley

Re: ADSL to ADSL2+

Downstream rate now 4554kbs, SNR was reset yesterday, do I leave it alone or should I reboot the router?

Re: ADSL to ADSL2+

For some reason SNR resets sometimes fail and it looks like yours has. What's the noise margin at the moment?

Re: ADSL to ADSL2+

Try ONE resync and post the sync speed and noise margin again.

In my experience they often fail if the profile has been banded.

Re: ADSL to ADSL2+

The sync speed of 4544kbps is at the top of one of the banded ranges so almost certainly the problem is that your profile has been banded by BT. This band is the next one down from where your were previously.
Something is clearly amiss here. I suggest raising a slow speed fault at http://faults.plus.net to get this looked at properly.

Re: ADSL to ADSL2+

Seems to have settled down now, plusnet profile says 19.8 but btw speed tester says 17.13 should it be higher or is that about it?

Re: ADSL to ADSL2+

Hi there,
I've bumped your line profile according to your sync rate, so it's now at 20.9Mb/s, you should be seeing speeds close tho that, although it will tend to be slightly lower. If there's a big difference then it's a concern if it's not then it's fine.

Re: ADSL to ADSL2+

btw tester now says 19.88Mbs down of 21 Mbps Max Achievable Speed and  1.01Mbs up of 0.83Mbs Max Achievable Speed. 117% for up not bad then!
