ADSL speed issues

My phoneline has been noisy for a few weeks now, ever since a nieghbour had noise issues on their line. Openreach has been out and fixed their line. Thats when my problems began, the line was really noisy and started to affect the ADSL sync speed.

The noise margins and errors have been increasing slowy, making the line more stable but more that halving the speed of uploads and downloads.

Router stats:

ADSL line status

Connection information

Easy remedy - report a PHONE fault.

Re: ADSL speed issues

You didn't say that in your original post, but from the figures you posted above, you clearly still have a problem. I notice your uptime is very low - do you leave your router on permanently? If you do, I would run through the broadband fault checker.

Re: ADSL speed issues

@weeally46  If those attenuation figures are correct you must be next to the telephone exchange.😀Try a router resync, switch off and on again, if the speeds don't improve your line has been banded, that is capped at low speeds, you will need Plusnet staff help to get this reset.

Re: ADSL speed issues

Tried to restart with no luck. The noise margins usually sit around 6-9db.

I'm about 50m from the exchange if that.

Re: ADSL speed issues

@weeally46  What do you actually mean, you couldn't restart the connection or the speeds didn't get any better? What are the router stats now? The noise margins will be very high if the line is banded so you need to raise a broadband fault.

Re: ADSL speed issues

Restarted the router last night and it synced around 14000kbps. The posted router stats are up to date.

Re: ADSL speed issues

Is this not just a continuation from your posts at the beginning of the year?

Did you ever get the noise on your line sorted - your original post in this thread says you still have noise.

Re: ADSL speed issues

The noise on the phone line has gone, the noise margins on the router sync has got worse.

Re: ADSL speed issues

@jab1  It's difficult to get straight answers, I asked the OP to reset the router and got a meaningless reply. The stats posted cannot be up to date as they show sync speed of 9.7Mbps but at some unknown time it was about 14Mbps. As for the noise being much worse, totally confusing.  The current stats would help, it looks like a banded line to me, should be at full speed so close to the exchange.

It's hard work getting the required info, but we might get there eventually.🙄

@RealAleMadrid  @jab1  That is why I posted the link to the previous thread, a great deal of effort was made to help, but getting straight answers seemed difficult!.
