Re: ADSL link momentarily dropping

Hi Simon,

Sounds good, I'd recommend we start with the faceplate attached onto the master socket, but with all equipment disconnected from the faceplate and any other phone sockets you might have. If you can post back after I'll retest your line Smiley

Okay.  Everything disconnected.  Master socket faceplate in place.

Re: ADSL link momentarily dropping

Cheers, line tests are still passing so that seems to rule the faceplate out.

Could you add one more item into the faceplate, for example a micro-filter (if you use one) or router or phone etc?

Re: ADSL link momentarily dropping

Okay, I've connected a microfilter into the faceplate (nothing else connected to the microfilter at present).

Re: ADSL link momentarily dropping

Micro-filter's ruled out it seems, as line tests are passing still.

Could you connect something into the micro-filter?

Router now connected into the microfilter.  The router is on, by the way.

Cheers, line tests are passing still. Is there anything left to reconnect?

Re: ADSL link momentarily dropping

I've connected our telephone bell back in.  It should only connect between one comms conducter and the "bell" line in the extension, but let's see if it makes a difference.  Router is still connected to the master socket.

Re: ADSL link momentarily dropping

Now this is odd because the tests are still passing, unless there's something else you've yet to connect back up? If there's nothing else it's possible the act of disconnecting everything and reconnecting may have cleared the problem.

I think we've disturbed the DLM software with the repeated drops as the SNRM's increased to 13.1. I can put through an SNR reset though if needed at the end.

Re: ADSL link momentarily dropping

We have 2 phones, one of which I have just connected.  Incidentally, according to the router, the downstream SNRM was running at 13.1 before we started testing.

Re: ADSL link momentarily dropping

Ah no problem, I've just tested the line and they're passing still.

Could you connect up the other phone? Cheers

Re: ADSL link momentarily dropping

Everything now reconnected in their usual sockets.  Forgive my curiosity, but what when your test equipment reports a high resistance imbalance, what does that actually mean?

Re: ADSL link momentarily dropping

And the tests have completed again and they're not showing any issues.

High resistance is where there's something affects the flow of a broadband signal. The causes could range from a loose connection to a broken piece of equipment. I'm not an engineer so I can't really give a better answer I'm afraid. Sad

I'd recommend keeping an eye on things from this point on and we'll see if your connection remains stable.

Re: ADSL link momentarily dropping

Okay.  Thank you so much for your time and your help with this.  I'll give it a few days and see if we have any more drop-outs.

Thank you again,

Simon
