Re: ADSL broadband

Obviously no better Sad Let's see what happens when Plusnet's modem/router arrives.

Re: ADSL broadband

Well even if those ping times are improved, they are still poor and you have packet loss which shouldn't be happening. What's it been like over the last day?

Re: ADSL broadband

Do you know about logging into it at http://192.168.1.254/expert_user.html

You find some extra stuff Wink Try going to >Advanced Setup >LAN and give those devices fixed IPs.

Re: ADSL broadband

Fix

For the modem/router login you just need the password which is normally a mix of capital letters and numbers on the plastic card that came with it, and also on the label on the back of the modem/router.

You can log in normally with just the http://192.168.1.254  but not http://192.168.1.254/expert_user.html ?

If that's the case, can you post the firmware version which is on line 3 on the helpdesk page ?

Re: ADSL broadband

What a load of complete ...........
The amount of usage is completely irrelevant BUT as mentioned previously you must run those ping tests when nothing else is using the connection. As an aside those usage figures suggest you do stream a lot. Were you previously able to game ok whilst streaming before these problems arose or did you never do them at the same time?

The other thought is, I assumed you'd have been sent a 2704n (Hub zero) being on an ADSL connection, but they may have sent you the Hub One in which case the expert_user login doesn't apply. Setting fixed IP addresses for devices will be different.

Can you let me know when this was as the only chat I can find was regarding wireless issues.

This is likely the issue. For an 8Mb/s line you're using a lot of data. Make sure you stop anything, including uploads, before doing any speed/ping tests/

Re: ADSL broadband

Well I'm glad that's looking much much better. The only comment I would make now is that those times look like times for an Interleaved line. So if you are a Gamer, you'll need to check whether Interleaving is on or off, and if on, request Plusnet to turn it Off (not auto).

Re: ADSL broadband

I recently went through the process of getting interleaving turned off on an ADSL Max line, so my experience may be relevant.

I had an interleave depth of 0, and was repeatedly told that this meant that I was on fast path, despite my router saying it was interleaved. On another forum I was advised that interleave depth 0 was not fast path. Plusnet can't switch an ADSL Max line to fast path - the equipment automatically switches to interleaved if it thinks it needs to for stability. However, if you have a stable line, then a full SNR reset will switch to fast path - but if the line is unstable it will quickly switch back to interleaved so make sure you have a stable connection first. It has to be a full SNR reset, not the usual "reset" that support do.

My latency dropped from >40ms to <20ms, so it was worth the effort.
