See my correction to my post - I forgot about the fixed line.  Embarrassed
As a comparison these are my figures - this is the maximum stable speed - much above that and the error rate in the evening becomes excessive as the noise magin drops below about 5.5dB
Noise Margin:     8.3   dB
Connection Rate:  3776  Kbps
Line Attenuation: 51.0  dB

The attenuation would be the same, but MaxDSL attempts to get the best out of the line by maximising the speed with the lowest sustainable SNR margin. As usual, Kitz explains it well -

Line quality varies enormously, but you'd be unlucky not to get something decent with 49dB. I'm getting 4608 sync with 52·5dB attenuation.
