Hi mkc66,
Try a different filter, otherwise I'd suggest raising a fault.

As I feared - your default noise margin has been bounced up to 15dB which is crippling your speed

Re: ADMIN Does my profile need a nudge in the righ direction please

my noise margin had already jumped upto 15dB when the sync rate dropped
this is a new filter we changed it recently after advice here due to another problem on the 6th of this month
we do have one more new one  just got to find it, do i need to reconnect resync or reboot again when it is changed  Smiley
ignore that of course i need to disconnect lol

This is what I was talking about - the default noise margin won't drop on its own until you have several weeks of a stable connection without disconnections and not many errors

Re: ADMIN Does my profile need a nudge in the righ direction please

Changing the filter will not immediately make any change to your target noise margin which appears to be 15dB. So the sync speed you get will remain at the reduced value appropriate to that target. What a filter change might do is reduce line errors counts so that in time the DLM reduces target noise margin.
Otherwise as Jojo suggested you need to raise a low speed fault to get the connection checked out.

Re: ADMIN Does my profile need a nudge in the righ direction please

I must admit with disconnects few and far between i am surprised tp have lost half my speed and my noise margin to have jumped so high i replaced filter at the beginning of this month as suggested to me and have done so again
my noise margin is down a tiny bit today Noise Margin 14.5 db 22.0 db  so might give it a few days before
raising a fault  as it is soo much hassle, even when i put i am in the test socket all the time i have changed nothing recently and i have replaced filters i am told to do these things again  Sad

Re: ADMIN Does my profile need a nudge in the righ direction please

Target noise margin can increase due to excessive line error counts as well as due to disconnections. Lots of transmission errors mean packets have to be requested again and retransmitted which slows down the effective data rate as measured by speed tests.
Can you get FEC, CRC and HEC error counts from your router?

Re: ADMIN Does my profile need a nudge in the righ direction please

Hi mkc66,
That seems to have sorted the errors on the line. I'll reset the SNR and see how we get on with that.

Re: ADMIN Does my profile need a nudge in the righ direction please

had a blip in our power supply today just long enough to disconnect evety electrical in the house and it resulted in the router reconnnecting but at a faster sync but my noise margin is very low will this cause more problems as it has never been so low

Line Attenuation 56.0 db 26.0 db
Noise Margin 3.2 db 22.0 db

also had this email today which says in the next 5 weeks how will i know the change has happened and I have seen many people moaning about the change causing broadband issues.

We have good news for you. Your telephone line is in an area that can now benefit from our new broadband network (this is known as 21CN).
We will be switching your service over to this new network and there will be no need to change any settings on your ADSL modem/router or your username and password. You will remain on the same 'up to 8Mbps' speeds that you have currently but are likely to see a better broadband performance.

Re: ADMIN Does my profile need a nudge in the righ direction please

Hi mkc66,
Your profile is 3000 at the moment but if your sync rate stays at the current 4352 then this will increase to 3500.
