Re: 9225 kps at Router but only 6400Kps speedtest at computer - Why?

HI
A week on and profile still stuck at 7000kps. No sign of the engineers correcting the profile .
Still achieving consistant speeds of 9000kps at the router
see below for bt speedtest ( 5mins ago)
Can someone please help sort this out ?
thanks
j
Download speedachieved during the test was - 6268 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :9067 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 444 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 9.33:28.81:61.85 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

Re: 9225 kps at Router but only 6400Kps speedtest at computer - Why?

The BT IP Profile shows as 7150kbps which is correct for a sync speed of 9067kbps. Is the problem that Plusnet still have Current line speed as 7000kbps in the Member Centre?

Re: 9225 kps at Router but only 6400Kps speedtest at computer - Why?

You have to sync at or above 9088kbps for an IP Profile of 8000kbps, Unfortunately you haven't quite got there so 7150kbps is the correct profile. Sad

Re: 9225 kps at Router but only 6400Kps speedtest at computer - Why?

As spraxyt says, the profile is correct for your line. As you're syncing at 9067 now it's not quite high enough for the profile to go up to 8000.

Re: 9225 kps at Router but only 6400Kps speedtest at computer - Why?

Your BT IP Profile is still 7000kbps. Sadly the way the DLM works it could be 3 days before that increases to 9000kbps, the value appropriate to your current sync speed of 10504kbps - and assuming that sync speed is maintained. After the BT Profile increases the Plusnet Current line speed copy should follow suit a few hours afterwards when BT's delta report reaches them.

Re: 9225 kps at Router but only 6400Kps speedtest at computer - Why?

HI
still having problems can someone help
Since being raised to 8000kps from 7000kps my connection rate at my modem has reduced from over 10000kps to 7500 kps (not sure why this has occurred)
Consequently my IP profile appears to have dropped from 8000kps to currently 6000kps and im currently achieving around 5300 kps at the computer - well below my rate a week ago
Maybe i should have left my profile as it was at  7000kps.
Can someone explain why this should have occurred and what i can do to raise the connection rate- when raised i initially got well over 8000kps at the computer - this has gradually fallen over the week to the current rate of 5300kps.
thanks in advance

Re: 9225 kps at Router but only 6400Kps speedtest at computer - Why?

The Plusnet profile has no effect whatsoever on sync speeds, those are between you and the exchange and are set before your connection goes anywhere near Plusnet.
Your sync speed may have reduced because the DLM has raised the target noise margin to reduce disconnections; have you experienced a number of drop outs? Lots of restarts while you've been trying things? Have you noticed any noise on phone calls?
More clues might be apparent if you post a full set of router stats, sync speeds, attenuations and noise margins.

Re: 9225 kps at Router but only 6400Kps speedtest at computer - Why?

Hmm, there doesn't appear to be any problem with the connection (it's not dropping or anything).
Are you connected to the master socket? Is there any noise on the phone line?

Re: 9225 kps at Router but only 6400Kps speedtest at computer - Why?

Im using the same socket as 2weeks ago when getting 9 - 10 kps at the router
does not appear to be any noise on the line
Just wondering whether restarting should have any effect
