7800N Firmware

Sorry about the thread hijack, but I have another question for Strat;
Is it worthwhile updating the 7800N to 1.06f firmware? The firmware itself has got a half a star out of 5 rating on Billion's UK website, which is a little off-putting to say the least!

Re: 7800N Firmware

Probably not but I haven't had chance to see what has changed yet......if anything Undecided
My sync rate crept up from 8000Kbs to 8128Kbs (before an overnight resync dropped it back to 8096Kbs) but I don't know if the firmware update had anything to do with it.

Can't see much of any real relevance.

Re: 7800N Firmware

Sorry to but in..
Everytime I try to upgrade my router with this firmware it does not do anything whatsoever... After clicking "upgrade" I have the "waiting for 192.168.1.254" forever, just wondering what im doing wrong if anything?

Re: 7800N Firmware

I have got a 7800N on 1.06d firmware which kept losing the connection to Plusnet.  Plusnet decided it was a router problem and so I reinstated my linksys wag200g and that is working OK.  I was also wondering if it was worth trying the 1.06f firmware.  The 1.06e firmware wasn't rated highly so that doesn't bode well either.

Neither the 1.06e or 1.06f release notes have anything that seems relevant to your issues, but I'm on 1.06e without any connection issues so I guess it might be worth a shot...
@ Steek - where did you get the 1.06f firmware from? I guess it might be worth double checking that it's from the UK site and that it has the .afw extension... (and is definitely for the 7800N and not the 7800)
I'll probably try updating mine later on even though it's currently working fine... I have this weird obsession with my software always having to be bang up to date

Re: 7800N Firmware

Hey, yes its from the UK website and it has the .afw extension.. Everytime I try it I have to reset my router and never works so I may just leave it. Thanks for your help though.

Re: 7800N Firmware

For info, firmware 1.06g is now available for test. Seems to be going ok and fixes some problems with 1.06f.
