2nd router

i upgraded to fibre a while ago and i have had problems with wifi. contact support and they are sending out a new router.
in the meantime i want to connect my old thomson 585 v8 to my existing wnr1000 like a switch. is this possible and if so can anyone give me instructions on how to do this?
thanks

Yes, you need to:-
1) Disable the DHCP server on the TG585
2) Allocate it a LAN IP address in the same subnet as the WNR1000 BUT outside of the WNR1000 DHCP range
3) connect one of the LAN ports of the TG585 to a LAN port on the WNR1000
The TG585 should now act as a network switch and Wireless access point.
As for detailed instructions I'm afraid I don't have either a TG585 or a WNR1000 so I'm going to have to leave that for someone else...

If you want a reasonably cheap one ( but are prepared to wait a few days ) then http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/default.php?filterwords=cat5&x=0&y=0&filterwordsalldb=1&filterwordsd...
else if you want one in a hurry and there's one close by then there's always http://www.maplin.co.uk/cables-and-connectors/network-cables/cat5e-network-cables
Unless, of course, you happen to be close enough to collect from http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Cables/Network+Cables/
