1 Laptop connects, another one won’t, please help.

Hello All
My first post on the forum, is a request for help regarding an issue I have with a laptop.
I have 1 laptop that effortlessly connects to my router,  aTG852n, and another one which stubbornly refuses too.
Laptop that works is Acer Aspire V5 Windows 7 64 bit.
Laptop that doesn’t is Compaq Windows Vista 32 bit.
I’ve looked at the Wireless network connection status for both of them
                Acer         Compaq
IPv4 Internet                 Local
Ipv6 No internet access Local
In the details box the IPv4 address for each is different.
I’m at the limit of my knowledge, so any help getting the Compaq connected would be appreciated.
I've looked though the plusnet help topics and I have no idea how to change an IP address,if it is possible, or if it would help.
Thanks
Joe

Hi Joe,
Sorry to hear of the issues you're experiencing. On the laptop that won't connect via Wireless, are you able to connect with an Ethernet Cable at all?

Also try updating the wireless card drivers on the machine that won't connect. Another test would be to use a cheap wireless USB dongle and see if that sorts it or if the problem persists.

Hi Chris and Dom
Thanks for your replies.
Dom, you were right, updating the wireless drivers did the trick, the Compaq is now working.
Thanks again for your replies.
