Re: 0.79 down speed

Those system log entries are odd. Do you have any customised setup or changed anything since sorting it out when Jaggies posted about it?

Re: 0.79 down speed

Haven't touched a thing since it's been set from Jaggies post.
Would try checking out the event log again but can't even log into the router. just hanging at 'waiting for 192.168.1.1'.
I'll post it again when it lets me in.

Current line speed:2.3 Mb  (a slight drop which hopefully is a good thing)
Download speedachieved during the test was - 2.22 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1.2 Mbps-4 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 2.46 Mbps

I'm happy with those results, just need to be able to log onto the router to see those stats. I would rather not have to reboot the router unless needed. I'll check after I've made food (fingers crossed its working by then)

Re: 0.79 down speed

You could try emailing TP-Link Support with those log entries and see what they say.

Re: 0.79 down speed

What time of day was it reconnected?
I'd pull the power plug (bearing in mind you haven't got a Disconnect button for the PPP Internet session) and stay off for 10 minutes and then power up again. Post the new stats.

Re: 0.79 down speed

Well that certainly didn't seem to help Sad  The line is completely noise free is it? I wonder if your Target SNRM has gone up? We'll have to get a kind CRT person to look.
btw, did you ever check out that extra cable that you thought went next door?

Re: 0.79 down speed

Hi All,
It looks as though something changed on the 2nd as the Target SNRM is set to 6 Up and 6 Down but according to the KBD testing the line is sat at 6 Up and 3 Down at the moment. On the plus side, the DLM has pushed the speed up to almost 1.7mbps from the 1.2mbps it was at previously so it seems to be recovering from the drop of the phone service.
An SNR reset may well be in order however I would be a little hesitant to place this at the moment given that the speed seems to be recovering.

Re: 0.79 down speed

Thanks for the info.Adam. I'd agree that an SNR Reset may not be a good idea right now, sync speeds circa 2400/2500 had been achieved with relatively little problem before this phone line fault. I'm suspicious that the line hasn't been repaired properly  Shocked  especially with an SNRM down at 3dB atm when the target is at 6dB.
@alliasjay, remind us who your line rental is with?

Re: 0.79 down speed

My mate Alilasjay is busy but confirmed his line rental is only with Plusnet, we're a bit confused at the question tbh as his phone/broadband is with Plusnet

Re: 0.79 down speed

I didn't have time to re-read the thread to see if it had been mentioned. That's not a problem, if line rental is with Plusnet then they'll have to revisit this if as I stated I suspect that the line repair has not been done properly or there is still an additional problem with the line.
I think the next move should be run a quiet line test (17070 option 2) if it's still noisy get back to Plusnet, but it might be good to try a mid-day power down for 10 minutes then resync and see if a better speed can be achieved.

Re: 0.79 down speed

hi there, I just did the quiet line test for him & there was no noise at all. I believe Alliasjay has also disconnected the line for 10 mins yest afternoon. He'll need to do a speed test though as I don't have that info

Best wait for stats then to see if it's any better.

Re: 0.79 down speed

Alliasjay did a speed test lastnight and on BT is was showing 1.5Mb and the profile set as 1.6Mb
Oddly, on http://dslchecker.bt.com he has significantly improved: WBC ADSL 2+ Up to 3 -- 1.5 to 5.5 Available but the actual speed is still low

Re: 0.79 down speed

The modem/router DSL stats are really the thing that will give a clearer picture of what the current situation is - or someone from CRT running a quick Broadband test and posting all the figures.
