In my fairly new installation of Windows 11 Pro (as installed by the refurbish supplier) I notice in the version information that it is:
Pro Insider Preview.

Is this good?, Should I keep it this way?. If yes, what do I do with it?. If not, how to return to just the standard Pro version?.

I'd go back to your supplier and ask them to install a "proper" version of Windows 11 Pro.

That "may" be somewhat problematic, depending if the hardware has a MIcrosoft-registered Full Professional Windows version license registered against it. I think that can be quite old, even Windows 7, are there any Microsoft labels on the box indicating what it is licensed for?

If it's not correctly licensed/registered Windows 11 Pro is not a particularly cheap purchase.

(I've seen US pricing at $199 or $99 for an upgrade from Home, but sometimes there are genuine discount offers)

That's just a beta version of windows, I use it on one of my VM's. It' fine.

You should still be able to tell whether it's a legit license and be able to leave the insider channel

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program > Stop Insider Preview Builds to see your options.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Happy to say I do indeed have a Product Key: Settings/System/About. (and a device ID)

Have seen the setting "Remove Insider Preview" which didn't seem helpful or go anywhere as the "activate" button was greyed out. On tucked away closer inspection it seems the Insider Preview on my laptop is not activated.

So I presume I can just leave things as they are, seemingly as standard Win 11 Pro, but with Win 11 Pro Insider Preview showing bottom right of screen above the taskbar clock together with the build and version numbers. Which incidentally was put there by me from the Winaero Tweaker app, as I have done with all my previous Win computers, probably unnecessarily, as most likely most of such tweaks are unnecessary.

Hmmm, a preview version not activated is not something I'd want to run long-term, you could well become quite limited and potentially at risk from functional and security updates not arriving. 🤔

As I asked earlier: "are there any Microsoft labels on the box indicating what it is licensed for?".
