Archer VR2800 v1 - full fibre

I am currently using an Archer VR2800 v1 router to connect to the internet. I am on the Unlimited Fibre package. This is coming up for renewal and I have been informed that the only option I have is to upgrade to full fibre. I have been very happy with my current router and was wondering if it is compatible with the full fibre package?

Any advice on this and changing to full fibre would be very much appreciated.

Full Fibre shows as WBC FTTP. Of more importance what does to say about the Exchange Priority.

If the Archer is a modem / router I believe you can plug it straight into the ONT using an ethernet cable but I could be wrong.

Full Fibre will mean the loss of your landline if this matters.

In principle, yes. You switch it to 'wireless router' mode, and then connect the LAN4/WAN port to the ONT using an ethernet cable.

However, the VR2800 is really designed for a 100Mb internet connection, so if you were considering something faster than the FF150 product, then the 2800 may not be up to the job.

I have checked, and it shows that FTTP is available.

It says - The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme. Not sure what this means.

Yes my current routers is a modem router

Because you're not on a Fibre Priority Exchange you should have choices. You may have been mis-informed.

If you phone the PlusNet Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 I believe they should offer

1) Renew "as is" but be aware the phone element will go at some point during the contract.

2) Give up the phone but stay with FTTC on a SOGEA line

3) Give up the phone and upgrade to Full Fibre.
