At the new address my Vigor v120 V2 modem just tries to handshake and then goes back to ready

The Vigor 120 is an ADSL only modem. SoGEA is a VDSL product , so you need a VDSL modem.

My work around currently is to use the Plusnet router as a modem to my Netscreen/Juniper router.

Are you using the Plusnet router in its default (router) mode ?

It's possible to use it as a modem only by setting bridging mode, which will make it similar to the Vigor 120 but VDSL capable

I've used a modem/router successfully at a previous address (but that was direct to exchange and not Plusnet -SoGEA)

At the new address my Vigor v120 V2 modem just tries to handshake and then goes back to ready (shown with a PC attached). The PPoE login credentials are only on the router and the logging on that just shows a failure to connect and no detail.

I'm using the same rj11 cable and filter to the modem as I am to the Plusnet hub. The modem firmware is the latest available and the configuration is default- PPoA which passes the PPoE packets to the router.

My work around currently is to use the Plusnet router as a modem to my Netscreen/Juniper router.

Plusnet tech support logs only show the Plusnet authentications and no failures.

If you happen to think of anything I can try then please let me know. Thanks.

@petercons If you have a Plusnet Hub2 that can be configured in bridge mode so it acts like a separate modem as @MisterW has suggested. The earlier Plusnet Hub1 cannot be set to bridge mode.
