ONT to switch to router

Moving house soon and installing a comms cabinet out of sight. The ONT is in another location but I’m thinking a single cat 6 run from the ONT to managed switch with the port tagged to VLAN x. Then at the other end of the cable another switch with a port tagged also VLAN x connecting to WAN port on the router. Then everything else on different VLANs to x.

Before I start unplugging my current setup to test, any anyone confirm this will work?

Very fair point 🤣 And a reminder to me not to do too many things at once...

Explaining my thinking (hopefully) a bit bitter..

ONT to port 1 on switch i, tagged VLAN x.

Port 2 on switch i to port 1 of switch ii (in comms cabinet for instance) both on VLAN x. Port to 2 on switch ii (still VLAN x) to router WAN port. Then all other switch ports on VLAN y, z etc...

Reason I'm not going single cable from ONT to router WAN port is I'd like some sockets at the ONT end of things.

Hopefully that makes more sense 🤦‍♂️
