I've been looking for something with more cpu 'oompf' than my Tplink ER605 running Openwrt. Its fine on my FF900 with H/W flow offloading but that precludes the use of QoS.

That box would be a slight increase from my dual core 800mhz to a dual core 1.3ghz but I've been watching the price of the GL.iNET MT-6000 which is a quad core 2.0ghz router that will accept native Openwrt OOTB ( https://openwrt.org/toh/gl.inet/gl-mt6000 ).

Whilst I like the idea, I do have to ask if you are worried at all about "they have installed a custom version of OpenWRT that sends logs back to (a) China; or (b) US" (not sure which would be worse!!!)

Or are you able to upgrade it it to a trusted version?

The first link that @MisterW posted is to the Openwrt site which details how to install a clean/fresh installation of Openwrt removing the custom version

That is a nifty bit of kit, especially for the price.

Pity I cannot justify getting one, as what I have is working nicely and I have a backup.
