Can't get home wifi calling to work Samsung A13

Mobile signal at home is dreadful so I wanted to use wifi calling.

I have switched it on in my phones settings but it never uses the wifi.

How can I get it to work please?

Which phone network are you on, and do they support Wi-Fi calling?

With my mobile provider I found that whilst it worked fine as a phone, WiFi calling did not work until I input the APN settings.

Vodafone and yes they support it

Would this question not best be asked of Voda - it is after all a mobile phone question, best answered by your provider.

I don't know if they've changed in the last 12 years. If they don't work that you might be better asking Vodafone.

Edit: @jab1 types faster than me! I see you've posted this in the Broadband section. This wouldn't be anything on the Plusnet side. It will totally be on the Vodafone side.

@insussex From previous experience the Plusnet Member centre firewall can stop wifi calling working, if you have it check that it is set to low or off. It's a legacy thing from the age of dial up modems, no longer necessary.

I seem to recall you can force wifi calling.

First you need to turn 'airplane mode' on, then enable the Internet connection through you home network

Hopefully you should still get text messages

me no expert....... but, as I understand it, if a mobile phone can access a signal from it`s sim supplier, then it will not use wifi calling.

However, you may be able to find a better signal/coverage from another supplier...

here are 4 links to the 4 major networks, to locate the nearest tower, and the coverage it can provide

@shutter I believe the OP wants wifi calling to work with the current network i.e. Vodafone, not change to different one so suggesting other networks in not helpful. not all the MVNOs support wifi calling by the way.

Also my phone receives a rather poor mobile signal in the house, but always connects to wifi calling if the home wifi is active.

And likewise my somewhat ancient Samsung S7 uses WiFi calling at home where mobile reception is not good simply by selecting the option in Phone/Settings..

Hi are you with Vodafone or Lebara both work WiFi calling

On the phone if you go into settings then connections is WiFI calling between WiFi and Bluetooth and on

Are you on the latest Android Version my Samsung A13 is on Version 14

Have you tried this to see if wifi calling works?

My Broadband account firewall found in the members centre is set to 'Low' there are no changes required for a plusnet supplied hub

@insussex To assist others who may have this problem could you clarify which part of Dan_the_Van's post do you consider to be the fix?

Putting the phone in Airplane mode, which will work but my Iphone does not have to be in that mode, if WiFi is available WiFi calling is activated.

Or was it changing the setting on the Plusnet Member centre firewall? This can be the problem because on the higher setting the firewall blocks the data protocol required for WiFi calling to work.
