to stop Firefox restoring previous session?

I have googled "how to stop firefox restoring previous sessions," and I have done the instructional about:config... but it still restores the previous session.

This is the first time this has happened to me, in over 25 years... and it`s Bl****y annoying.

There must have been a change in the latest (or recent) updates of Firefox, as I always had the History setting to "Never remember history".

But if I have that set then my Stylus Add-on for Plusnet and Google search has to be reset every time. Which never happened before.

To retain the Stylus Add-on facility. I have to have it set as below.

see the following pic for settings.

If I remove thet tick from Clear History when firefox closes, it reverts to Always use private browsing mode and the Stylus Add-on disappears

The reference is to a browser extension by the name of DuckDuckGo

I know what the reference is, @Dan_the_Van - just don't get it's relevance to @shutter 's issue.

So,.... from what you are saying, is a suggestion that I use DuckDuckGo Go... as my search instead of Firefox ?

In which case. Does Stylus, and all the other Firefox "Add-ons" also work with DDGG ?

@shutter AFAIK, Firefox (and the versions used by most Linux distros) have Google as the default search engine, and changing it would not solve your 'issue' anyway - that is entirely down to the browser itself.

@shutter Just a thought - I seem to think there is a DDG browser as well, but can't confirm it, and wouldn't use it anyway - it's taken me long enough to get FF to my liking, and I'm perfectly happy with it now.

I was trying to expand on I what thought @Heanorman was referring too, nothing else.

Nothing to do with changing search engines or using DuckDuckGo browser.

Yes ,there is. On mine vn 116.0 it is unchecked.

In the original post the "Open previous windows and tabs" check box is visible and unchecked - so that should do the job.

If it doesn't then I'd suggest closing all Firefox windows (or better yet reboot too) to make sure Firefox picks up the new settings.

If all else fails, uninstall Firefox, reboot, and re-install.

Just to clarify, what you want to stop happening.

When you start Firefox it opens the tabs that were open when you last closed Firefox?

This has nothing to do with history, check this setting.

Edit: I should check for new posts before posting 🙄

As @corringham says.... !... If you check out the first pic on my start up post... you will see the box is unchecked. alongside the "false" instruction ( to the right ) against restoring after crash.

@corringham Yes indeed, if I close all my open pages.... ( i don`t use TABS ). ( or smoke them ! ! ! ) . then close down the laptop, and restart... then it is like it used to be... just one Google search page with my Stylish colour Green add-on as it should be.

Think I might try the uninstall/re-install firefox just to see what happens...
