Ok, ignore my thinking, turns out the slot i'm looking at is a mini PCIe slot. Shame!

So what are my options here for getting a SSD drive to work with it? - can't be bothered with spinning disk as i'll need to faff about finding a power source for that.

Hi,

I've got a couple of Intel D525MW boards knocking around unused - mini-itx things.

I got one running moons ago from a knackered SATA spinning drive but it was a pain so I want to go with a SSD this time.

Can i just use any SSD or are there different versions? - I know some PCI slots had different keys etc and I know nothing about SSDs.

Thanks

AFAICS that board doesnt have an M.2 slot which is what most SSD's are these days https://www.kingston.com/unitedkingdom/en/blog/pc-performance/two-types-m2-vs-ssd but it does have sata ports so you'd need to use a conventional 2.5" Sata SSD like this https://www.kingston.com/unitedkingdom/en/ssd/a400-solid-state-drive
