Which way do I go ?

I would like a "compass" app on my phone.... looking at the apps listed under the title "Compass".. there are quite a few.

So... I`m asking on here, for any recommendations.... Not likely to use it "on the moors" .. but it would be nice if it had GPS position as well as pointing which way is "North" .

Prefer "FREE" and if poss, with no, or very few, adverts.

Better check your phone's spec first, as it will need a 'magnetometer' function, which I believe some of the cheaper ones don't have.

OK... thanks for that bit of info.... Phone is a HUAWEI Y6 2019..... How would I check for the megnetometer ?

Google Maps shows an active compass and coordinates on my "Moto G Pro"

Check out an app called 'Androsensor' which will show readings for all the sensors your phone is equipped with.

Checking on that linky....

seems that it does not support a "compass".....

Ah Well..... Will have to rely on the position of the sun..... ( not the newspaper! ! !).. Or the North Star at night, if either of them deem to show themselves ! ! ...

Of course you can't go just on the online specs as sometimes manufacturers make many different versions of the same model.
