Toshiba SMART tvs no radio streaming

Greetings! I have recently bought Toshiba 24WL3A63DB (2019) SMART tv just because I have no aerial available in the room its intended for.

All the TV app channels work fine but none of the pre-installed radio apps connect, at least no sound.

I thought it may be a fault with the tv so they sent me a replacement tv with exactly the same result. In another room I have a Roku Express that plays any internet radio without problem. I also have a Google nest Mini which works perfectly.

I use the supplied Plusnet Hub One WiFi router and also have tried ethernet cable to tv.

Any experience or ideas please?

Might be worth checking for system updates or app updates.

After that my next step would be, set my 4G smartphone as a wifi hot spot, log the TV in to the wifi on the phone and see if the radio app/s work then over 4G or even 3G on a good phone.

Good call, Toshiba say they will send me firmware to do a re-build. I'll try the hotspot. seems a sensible idea.

I got it connected to my phone hotspot okay and could stream iPlayer etc but still the installed radio apps not functioning. I'll await Toshiba's firmware update.

Yes but thats only using Digital Terrestial TV (Freeview) through the roof aerial. It still wont run radio apps over WiFi as a SMART TV (not so smart really).

No aerial socket available in this room unfortunately which was the reason for buying a SMART TV.

I just feel its unlikely to be the tv at fault as Ive tried two brand new ones. Must be an issue with the Plusnet connection

How must it be the router if it also does not work from your phone hotspot?

Are you sure these apps should work the way you think?

...just now received new Toshiba software update, installed and was greeted with a new Secure Smart TV ToU which I've never seen before even on the original 1st intallation proc.

Guess what? All radio apps now function correctly..🤔

Installed on both sets, both now properly functioning.

Obviously not the router, Toshiba released a non-working system.
