Freenetname ftp not working

Hi I have a website hosted through my old freenetname account which I have used for many years through the madasafish / plusnet takeovers

Has something changed within the ftp settings within the last few months?

I was able to upload fine in Nov/Dec 2018 but now with same details I am getting an error message

"cant get "http://www.users.freenetname.co.uk/" host entry"

ftp Settings have always previously been using WS FTP (and worked):

host name: http://www.users.freenetname.co.uk/

user id: ******@freenetname.co.uk

Password: *********

You are using the FTP - File Transfer Protocol - to move files yet you are specifying a Hyper Text Transfer Protocol in the host address - http://

Remove the http:// and just use the actual domain name instead.

The http part is not valid in any ftp host name so I suspect WS FTP was removing the http bit invisibly and connecting to www.users.freenetname.co.uk directly without it. You said it yourself, WS FTP previously worked.

Hi Thanks, yes I discovered this myself after playing with the settings some.

Like you say maybe something was suppressing it before, as it always used to work with the http in although I was not aware of that potential issue.
