I don't think its fair for ISP companies to be pressuring existing customers to change to FTTP!

I can't switch my existing Broadband and phone to any other provider.

If i stay on same service with Plusnet the prices are higher and getting higher even since first renewal price was quoted.

My first renewal prices the monthly price of 24mth contract was less than 18mth contract, totally normal.

Then a few days later the 24mth contract renewal price is more than the 18 mth. Both terms increasing a couple of pounds per month.

The CS agent said its to 'encourage' customers to move to FF, i see it more as pressure!

What are you going to do when they turn off the copper ? One day it is going to happen and if people won't switch voluntarily before then they won't be able to connect up all the properties to FTTP before it gets switched off.

Even they gave an option to go SoGEA and switch to another provider would help, that doesnt seem possible either.

When you're limited to the existing provider, they can just charge you what they want.

Unless you have a very strange set-up/location, you can switch to any provider using the BT/OR network, or you could see what other alternative networks there are in you area. Whichever way you go, you will have to find an alternative phone service provider.

Enter your postcode into this site: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/broadband-coverage and see who is available.

Unless you have a very strange set-up/location, you can switch to any provider using the BT/OR network,

Yes BUT if the exchange is 'Fibre priority' (and FTTP is available to the address) then all providers can ONLY order FTTP

It would appear that @Bella123 doesnt want the hassle of an FTTP install...

That result clearly shows that you can get SoGEA , from Plusnet, or any ISP in your area, who use the BT/OR network.

I know i can get SoGEA from Plusnet.

But why do no other providers show on comparison sites? Do i need to be converted to SoGEA first for it to show elsewhere.

I did contact vodafone CS also and ask them if i can get their fibre 2 and they said no

I don't know why they don't show on comparison sites - I rarely use them, as I know what I'm looking for, but maybe they have had their arms twisted to only show FTTP availability if the option is there, as it clearly is, in your case.

Out of interest, why do you not want FTTP (Full Fibre)?

Even i go directly to ISP websites, EE, SKY, BT, Vodafone, enter my address the only results are for Full Fibre.

Clearly some hiding of what should be available going on.

I suspect that OFCOM have sent out instructions that if FF is available, then that is all that is offered, even though you can get SoGEA - I have just checked a neighbours address on uSwitch, and they only show FF availability, even though I know for a fact we can still get SoGEA here.

Regardless of what the BTw availability site says you will be offered Full Fibre - how do I know this it is what happened to me

Since Full Fibre became available at my address SoGEA has been removed as an upgrade option. Now only Full Fibre or make changes to my call features.

Point of information: there is no obligation on any ISP to offer everything which BT Wholesale makes available in each location. Each ISP is free to choose to supply those products which they think matches their market. ISPs like users have choices.

For example, whilst Plusnet appears to offer SoGEA (to you) but other ISPs do not, other ISPs might offer FTTP 1.6GB where available but Plusnet does not.
