The point is that
http://www.draytek.co.uk/information/our-technology/bt-sin-498

Quote

Is it mandatory to use SIN 498 compliant products?
Yes; BT Openreach provide almost all VDSL lines in the UK (for all ISPs) and they do require the use of SIN498 approved devices. You are expected to have an approved device on the line in order that they can monitor performance/stability and in the event of any reported fault/problem so that they can eliminate any unknown hardware as being the cause. SIN 498 testing ensures that devices provide adequate performance a large variety of line types and varying line quality and comply with all requirements and features within the specification.

and SIN498 states

Quote

A.4.2.2.8 Support of Downstream Retransmission (R.VDSL2.10)
Description – The modem shall support downstream PHY layer retransmission as defined in G.998.4 [6] .

So according to that it must comply

It is easy enough for (honest) ISPs to make simple statements of compliance to remove the need to rely on risky assumptions.
Arguably, if they are not compliant, given the requirement from BT that they should be compliant, then they are not fit for their intended purpose.

I believe that it is Openreach approved. Whether or not it's compatible isn't something I'm sure of, however the profile amendments BT made shortly after the G.INP rollout should mean there is little detriment now. It may be able to be made compatible with future firmware but again, that's not something I'm 100% on.

Chris
That isn't correct
The changes made were in relation to G,INP on upstream not downstream
Can I ask that you check with your experts whether it supports G,INP on downstream or not
Alternatively run a GEA test on several of your customers with that router and it should show whether it supports G.INP downstream or not http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/retransmission.htm

Unfortunately references to version numbers of Lantiq software and firmware don't really prove anything - the TP-Link TD-W9980 had newer versions than that, but ReTx wasn't actually enabled, then TP-Link released newer firmware, containing Lantiq components with the same version numbers as before, but with ReTx switched on.
