Just had fibre installed with a very good BT engineer
All working but a screw up
Ordered 80/20 from Plusnet - so what did Plusnet order on BT 40/2
Plusnet profile still at 3.5 despite being advised the the account change had happened
Tried live chat and it will be sorted one the order completes
Grumble - the only modems the engineer had are ecl

I have recently been using a Gigalcear FTTP connection on their 100/100 service
This is a full symmetrical 100Mbps upload and download - and indeed this is what you get 24/7
For a representative speed test one has to use Netherlands based servers as UK ones cannot handle tests of 100Mbps upload capacity
Typical ping times to google are 5ms.
Anyway:
I have also seen buffering on iplayer - at which point I rapidly switched to a new browser tab and ran a speed check and got the usual 100Mbps up and down.
This pretty well confirmed that the buffering was due to iplayer and its immediate network in the BBC being unable to supply the data at the required speed rate rather than any general web slow down or gigalcear's network being overloaded causing the buffering.
So any buffering you are seeing is not necessarily plusnet/BT's fault!
