Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction to help.
My Father-in-Law has had to call Plusnet twice recently to report a faults on his phone line.
His only option is to use his "for emergencies only" PAYG mobile phone which ends up costing him over £7 each time he calls!
(He has to pay to call 0800 numbers)
He is elderly, hard of hearing and really struggles to use his mobile.
If he needs to call to report a fault, does Plusnet offer a service where they would call him back?
You don't have to use the 0800 number, there is a perfectly good 0345 number listed - 0345 140 0200, which is specifically noted as being more suitable for mobiles.

But not PAYG mobiles where calling 0345 is the same, or close to, the cost of calling 0800
BT Retail have a nice feature on their website where you can report a fault, initiate a line test and track progress of the resolution - PN take note!

I found myself in a similar situation last year. My answer was to buy a new 3G phone on this tariff http://www.three.co.uk/Store/Pay_As_You_Go_Price_Plans?id=1229&gclid=CLiZuL796b8CFUW6tAodHigAmw&gclsrc=ds . The phone itself cost me about £45.

The cost of calling 0800 from a mobile is VERY dependant on which network and which payg tariff where there is a choice. One or two of the major networks are a total rip-off.
The cost of calling 0345 should be the same as 01, 02 and other mobiles IIRC.
