Hi,
Do not want to pour petrol on your fire, but if the failure to provide what you asked for is with BT Openreach, why do you think changing providers (someone different to PN) is going to improve your situation? It will be the same BT Openreach attempting to provide the service connection... changing providers at this stage is only likely to lead to complications - open order from PN on BTOR's systems preventing any other ISP placing an order. BTOR's provisioning systems are notorious for "dirty" supplier swaps.
...I suggest that your best bet is to remain with PN and let them rattle BTOR's cage to get you a confirmed (possibly escalated) install.

Hi Fireant,
I'm very sorry to hear the Fibre service wasn't installed successfully due to the engineer not showing up.
If you wish to carry on with the upgrade then I can arrange another appointment for you and monitor this until completion, alternatively, if you wish to remain on ADSL2+ then please confirm this is the case so that the order for Fibre can be cancelled.

Hmm. It seems clear the fault here is with BTOR.. I do not know what work Plusnet have carried out so far or what contract you agreed to but I 'suspect' they are entitled to ask for payment for your cancellation. Whether you feel it is justified or not. (EDIT: Better news for you below from Plusnet it seems!)
I see a lot of people changing their minds over their provider (any provider that uses BTOR as a supplier actually) at the last minute because BTOR have let them down on appointments or quality of work carried out. Mostly its not something the provider is at fault with.
I agree providers should be more aggressive with BTOR about these problems but I also do not think BTOR really care or will take notice.
Until BTOR are held more accountable and are forced to upgrade the quality of their service I suspect many providers are going to keep taking a lot of blame for something out of their control.
Don't take this as me sticking up for Plusnet as a fanboy either. I have had my own share of well voiced disagreements with Plusnet and BTOR alike!
As an ex-SKY customer, tv, phone and Broadband I agree with Buntrob entirely.. SKY have their own significant list of issues for customers to deal with and my sky phone & BB installation was carried out by ... oh yes. BTOR. That didn't go smoothly either considering at the time I lived close enough to the exchange to look out of the window and watch the BT engineers in their vans sitting outside drinking coffee half the day yet couldn't find an engineer to visit the exchange (when i could clearly see them sitting there) to flick a switch or test a connection for me.. i could literally have called over to them and asked myself!

well the work they did was changed the package and obvious waiting for bt openreach to finish the installation which didn't go to plan and no way im paying the cancellation payment of no fault of my own so if that's the case well they will have a long wait for the money . BTOR donot have to come to the property as there new sky hub apparently has the modem built in so all the BTOR have to go to the cabinet .
