Still not right, only a few disconnects between 23:00hrs friday night and 17:00hrs saturday then all hell let loose again with it disconnecting every 5-10 mins until 22:30 hrs when it seems to have calmed down again
Here's the event log that shows on the router page :
Jun 1 19:20:19	CONFIGURATION saved by TR69

Error Jun 1 19:16:10	FIREWALL replay check (1 of 3): Protocol: ICMP Src ip: 84.231.211.222 Dst ip: 146.90.1.74 Type: Destination Unreachable Code: Port Unreacheable

Info Jun 1 19:13:48	SNTP Synchronised to server: 212.159.13.50

Info 	Jun 1 19:13:42	IDS fragment parser : fragment out-of-order (1 of 1) : 199.254.61.1 146.90.1.74 1500 UDP 53->59589 frag 33972:1480@0+

Error Jun 1 19:11:41	FIREWALL replay check (1 of 1): Protocol: ICMP Src ip: 101.0.4.6 Dst ip: 146.90.1.74 Type: Destination Unreachable Code: Port Unreacheable

Info Jun 1 19:10:13	FIREWALL event (1 of 1): deleted rules

Warning Jun 1 19:10:13	PPP link up (Internet) [146.90.1.74]

Info Jun 1 19:10:12	PPP CHAP Chap receive success : authentication ok

Info Jun 1 19:10:12	PPP CHAP Receive challenge (rhost = PTW-AG01)

Info Jun 1 19:10:10	PPP CHAP Receive challenge (rhost = bras-red11.mr-dh)

Info Jun 1 19:10:08	xDSL linestate up (ITU-T G.992.5; downstream: 16833 kbit/s, upstream: 1248 kbit/s; output Power Down: 19.3 dBm, Up: 12.6 dBm; line Attenuation Down: 27.5 dB, Up: 14.2 dB; snr Margin Down: 3.1 dB, Up: 6.5 dB)

Info Jun 1 19:09:42	xDSL linestate down

Info Jun 1 19:09:16	xDSL linestate down

Info Jun 1 19:08:45	xDSL linestate down

Info Jun 1 19:08:25	xDSL linestate down

Info Jun 1 19:08:15	LOGIN User admin logged in on [HTTP] (from 192.168.1.64)

Info Jun 1 19:07:53	xDSL linestate up (ITU-T G.992.5; downstream: 9977 kbit/s, upstream: 1268 kbit/s; output Power Down: 18.9 dBm, Up: 12.5 dBm; line Attenuation Down: 27.0 dB, Up: 14.2 dB; snr Margin Down: 3.1 dB, Up: 6.4 dB)

Info Jun 1 19:07:27	xDSL linestate down

Warning Jun 1 19:07:07	PPP link down (Internet) [87.113.96.94]

Error Jun 1 19:07:06	[CWMP] Connection timed out

Info Jun 1 19:07:01	xDSL linestate down

Info Jun 1 19:06:48	LOGIN User admin logged in on [HTTP] (from 192.168.1.94)

Info Jun 1 19:06:31	xDSL linestate down

Info Jun 1 19:06:10	FIREWALL event (1 of 1): modified rules

Info Jun 1 19:06:10	FIREWALL event (1 of 1): created rules

Info Jun 1 19:06:10	xDSL linestate down

Info Jun 1 19:06:02	FIREWALL event (1 of 1): deleted rules

Warning Jun 1 19:06:02	PPP link up (Internet) [87.113.96.94]

Info Jun 1 19:06:01	PPP CHAP Chap receive success : authentication ok

Info Jun 1 19:06:01	PPP CHAP Receive challenge (rhost = ptw-ag04)

Info Jun 1 19:05:51	PPP CHAP Receive challenge (rhost = bras-red11.mr-dh)

Info Jun 1 19:05:38	xDSL linestate up (ITU-T G.992.5; downstream: 17268 kbit/s, upstream: 1252 kbit/s; output Power Down: 19.3 dBm, Up: 12.4 dBm; line Attenuation Down: 27.0 dB, Up: 14.2 dB; snr Margin Down: 3.1 dB, Up: 6.7 dB)

Info Jun 1 19:05:12	xDSL linestate down

Warning Jun 1 19:04:51	PPP link down (Internet) [146.90.17.144]

Info Jun 1 19:04:46	xDSL linestate down

Info Jun 1 19:04:16	xDSL linestate down

Info Jun 1 19:03:55	FIREWALL event (1 of 1): modified rules

Info Jun 1 19:03:55	FIREWALL event (1 of 1): created rules
I've been with PN a month now and so far I'm very happy with the service and support There were some problems caused by a loose wire in the cab (if you believe BT) but since the 20th May the line has been rock steady with just a slight drop in speed. Otherwise my speed has been rock steady about the 11.5Mbps mark.
Broadband transferred to PN on 30th April
Phone transferred 20th May
Phone exchange:
    HOLYHEAD
Estimated line speed:
    8Mb (This may vary between 6Mb and 10Mb) - Checked on 2013-04-23 02:54:03
Current line speed:
    11.7 Mb
-------------------------------------------------------------------
DSL Connection
Link Information
Uptime:	8 days, 18:59:50
DSL Type:	ITU-T G.992.5
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:	1.254 / 13.287
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [GB/GB]:	1,99 / 1,37
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:	12,4 / 0,0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:	14,1 / 27,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:	5,9 / 5,4
System Vendor ID (Local/Remote):	TMMB / ----
Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote):	BDCM / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):	41 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):	5 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote):	0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote):	-
Error Seconds (Local/Remote):	18.218 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down):	2.138 / 196.071.350
CRC Errors (Up/Down):	160 / 1.757
HEC Errors (Up/Down):	176 / 12.333
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Download speedachieved during the test was - 11.18 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 11.72 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.91Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps
I have noticed a drop in my Current Line Speed which was at 13.4Mb but has since dropped to 11.7Mb, plus the numerous errors.......... anything I should be worried about or can do to reduce these
Gerwyn

Hi there Gerwyn,
I've just been running a few checks for you and I can't see any obvious reasons for this, has anything changed in terms of your set up recently? i.e change of modem/router any thing new plugged in the line, any changes to extensions, phones being used etc?
Also it would be worth you connecting to the test socket (if you have one) and posting your router stats again:
http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/master-socket-guide.shtml

Adam.
Hi Adam, thanks for your reply, no there has be no changes to my set up at all, in fact the last change was replacing my bt home hub 2 with the TG582n a month ago
firstly my set up
TG582n router connected via filter direct to master socket, no extensions. I was once told by a BT engineer that no need to plug into test socket if I have no extensions, if this is wrong please let me know and I'll power down the router and plug into the test socket.
The router is then plugged into a powerline adaptor which supplies my main pc and a media center pc. I also use a laptop via wifi.
Only other thing connected to the filter is a binatone cordless phone base station.
Last results were from the laptop across wifi, the following are from the same laptop but using ethernet cable directly into the router.
DSL Connection
Link Information
Uptime:	8 days, 19:41:05
DSL Type:	ITU-T G.992.5
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:	1.254 / 13.287
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [GB/GB]:	1,99 / 1,40
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:	12,4 / 0,0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:	14,1 / 27,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:	5,9 / 5,3
System Vendor ID (Local/Remote):	TMMB / ----
Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote):	BDCM / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):	41 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):	5 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote):	0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote):	-
Error Seconds (Local/Remote):	18.233 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down):	2.161 / 197.938.800
CRC Errors (Up/Down):	162 / 1.778
HEC Errors (Up/Down):	176 / 12.365
-----------------------------------------------------
Download speedachieved during the test was - 10.87 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 11.72 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 1.03Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps
If you would like results from the test socket please let me know,
Thank you
Gerwyn

Hi again,
hmm not much difference there, however re

Quote

I was once told by a BT engineer that no need to plug into test socket if I have no extensions, if this is wrong please let me know and I'll power down the router and plug into the test socket.

That's not quite right as connecting to the test socket also eliminates the faceplate from being the cause of any issues (which it can be sometimes) so it depends on how stringent you want to be really personally I'd give it a go unless it's a bind for you for some reason.
Adam

Hi Adam, I am now connected to the test socket...... had to pop out for an hour but here are the results. There are a few changes noticebly my download IP Profile has gone up on the BTw speedtest, not sure if you or BT did something there. I wouldn't think plugging the router in to the test socket would cause that change. I wish to note I am happy with everything as is, just wondering if it could be improved. Look forward to your views and advice
Gerwyn
Phone exchange:
    HOLYHEAD
Estimated line speed:
    8Mb (This may vary between 6Mb and 10Mb) - Checked on 2013-04-23 02:54:03
Current line speed:
    11.7 Mb
----------------------------------------------
Download speedachieved during the test was - 10.98 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 15.72 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.87Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps
---------------------------------------------
DSL Connection
Link Information
Uptime:	0 days, 0:59:35
DSL Type:	ITU-T G.992.5
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:	1.256 / 17.815
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/GB]:	72,91 / 1,99
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:	12,8 / 0,0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:	14,2 / 27,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:	6,1 / 3,2
System Vendor ID (Local/Remote):	TMMB / ----
Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote):	BDCM / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):	59 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):	7 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote):	0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote):	-
Error Seconds (Local/Remote):	19.177 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down):	0 / 19.599.023
CRC Errors (Up/Down):	0 / 4.123
HEC Errors (Up/Down):	0 / 7.558

Your Current Line Speed needs a nudge to bring it in line with the IP Profile. It should be 15.7, not 11.7...
Looks like your NTE5 socket is faulty - you can buy a replacement from http://clarity.it/ - I recently bought the filtered one for my sister and her download speed went from about 1.5 to 4Mb.

Hi Jaggles, I build and repair pc's as a hobby but tbh, have no clue about routers and the line faults etc. For my edification could you please explain why you think its a faulty NTE5 socket. Thank you.
I do have a BT I-Plate I got when they were handing them out for free to BT customers. I never bothered fitting it as I don't need any extensions...... would it be worth fitting or should I purchase a new NTE5 socket
Regards Gerwyn

From your posts - at the test socket: IP Profile for your line is - 15.72 Mbps
In the main socket: IP Profile for your line is - 11.72 Mbps
You've gained 4Mb by plugging in to the test port, indicating that there is almost certainly something wrong with the socket. The i-Plate won't help if you have no extensions - all it does is filter out interference from the bell wire in the extension cable(s).
Ahh thanks for that Jaggles, one learns all the time, so essentially I need to purchase a new faceplate but will probably have to purchase a whole new NTE5 box.
Gerwyn

All you need is the faceplate. If you get a standard one you will need to continue using a microfilter. If you get a filtered socket, you no longer need the microfilter. You'll also need the longer screws for the filtered faceplate.
Not affiliated to Clarity, just a satisfied customer.

Thanks Jaggles, just had a look at the Clarity site, will look into purchasing the filtered one when I can spare the money. For the moment I'll leave everything connected to the test socket, don't see the point of putting the faceplate back on if its faulty and apart from dust the box is in the back bedroom which rarely gets used
All I can do now is ask Adam or some other nice PN person to nudge my Current Line Speed as you suggested
Gerwyn

Hi chris, thanks for your reply, tbh the line has been steady since about 22:30 hrs on Saturday night with only a few disconnects as the graph shows. I've started the faults checker but got as far as "Please reboot your router and computer. Does this fix the problem?" . The problem doesn't seem to be there atm lol I'm going to answer no to the questions so that tests can be done and hopefully an explanation found

PN replied to my fault ticket this morning and as expected, no fault found and the line has been steady since 22:30 hrs Saturday. It was suggested by BTw that the fault was with my equipment but I do believe something was been done in the exchange for the fault to occur at specific times as it did. Plus my equipment is still the same and yet the fault is no longer there.
Anyway I am happy with the situation as it is for the moment, I have received a text message that interleaving has been switched on and since the tests this morning my upload ip profile has been capped again........ could you please uncap my upload.
Thank you for your help in this matter
Regards,
Gerwyn
Phone exchange:
    HOLYHEAD
Estimated line speed:
    8Mb (This may vary between 6Mb and 10Mb) - Checked on 2013-04-23 02:54:03
Current line speed:
    15.7 Mb
--------------------------------------------------------------
Download speedachieved during the test was - 12.84 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 12.95 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.32Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.45 Mbps
--------------------------------------------------------------
DSL Connection
Link Information

Uptime:	0 days, 0:55:33
DSL Type:	ITU-T G.992.5
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:	440 / 14,679
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [GB/GB]:	7.86 / 25.63
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:	12.2 / 0.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:	14.2 / 27.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:	31.8 / 9.0
System Vendor ID (Local/Remote):	TMMB / ----
Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote):	BDCM / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):	45 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):	5 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote):	0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote):	-
Error Seconds (Local/Remote):	122,703 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down):	0 / 113
CRC Errors (Up/Down):	0 / 0
HEC Errors (Up/Down):	0 / 0
Just a few observations for you. The BTw suggestion about it being your equipment is just the sort of standard crap that they dish out when it was clear there was some sort of intermittent problem but nothing showing on their tests (that they will admit to). It could well have been down to engineers working in the exchange on some other equipment fault etc. It may even be an intermittent connection on your line somewhere.
Suggest you keep an ear open - Can you hear/have you heard any crackling or other noises on the line when using the phone? Have you had any problems with incoming or outgoing calls?
As regards the speed changes you saw previously, when you initially connected to your test socket the SNRM had changed it went down to 3dB so it's likely that the Exchange DLM had lowered it resulting in the faster speed, whereas when you had previously connected noise levels may well have been higher giving a slower speed and then reduced which was giving the larger margin of 5.3dB at the time.
So I would not conclude that there was necessarily anything wrong with the faceplate.
As a result oif all the disconnects that you have had (for whatever the reason), it looks as though the Exchnage DLM has raised the Target SNRM to 9dB which is why your speed in a bit slower again, but still better than previous to the Test socket.
So my conclusion is that something odd has certainly been going on, and I would keep a careful eye and ear on the situation.
If you are an online Gamer you will want to have Interleaving turned off, but I'd wait a few days and see how the error counts go.
