A moan - one of my first !

Just a little gripe.
When I first signed up, there was a link on the members pages to a speed test site to test your broadband speed.

It's linked from here https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=bandwidth_test and probably some other places.
It's never worked reliably. Results have varied wildy and for as long as I remember it's had a disclaimer at the top saying it's not working properly.
Recent tests :
Today 10:06 48591 kbps (6.07MB/s) 17173 kbps (2.15MB/s) Share
Today 10:05 26122 kbps (3.27MB/s) 18323 kbps (2.29MB/s) Share
Today 10:00 61638 kbps (7.7MB/s) 18427 kbps (2.3MB/s) Share
Yesterday 21:23 14230 kbps (1.78MB/s) 18398 kbps (2.3MB/s) Share
Yesterday 21:23 20239 kbps (2.53MB/s) 18372 kbps (2.3MB/s) Share
So today my speed has varied between 26MB/s and 61MB/s. Other test sites are reporting a nice steady 70-72MB/s
Is it not about time to either fix the problem (after 3 months) or link to another more reliable speed test site ?

It's an OOKLA site too!
Why not link to Speedtest.net instead?

The site does work properly, if your on ADSL, but it can't handle Fibre speeds, hence the message in the top right:

But you're right, given the length of time this has been known about, and that message present, you'd have thought something would have been done!

It's a significant change to the hardware and the network it lives on to fix. Not sure if it we are actually working on resolving it. I'll ask about though.

I'm competent enough to know that there are other checkers available and to be able to spot dodgy speed test readings but other members who rely on the info Plusnet gives them may think that their speed is too low if they use this particular checker.
Maybe an idea to link a few 3rd Party sites for those of us with "faster" connections ?
